We drove through KY and all the way north through Ohio yesterday to end up at Cedar Point. It's located on a small peninsula that juts out into Lake Erie from Sandusky, OH. I was interested to learn that the theme park has been here since 1870! Wow!
The campground is first class. It is probably one of the nicest campgrounds we've ever stayed in, even better than Disney's Fort Wilderness. The campground is literally right next to the park. We can sit inside our camper and hear people screaming and the coaster roaring from nearby Mean Streak. Luckily, the park closes at 8:00, so nighttime is quiet!
The roller coasters here are amazing. I didn't count them all but there are probably 2 dozen of them, each unique and exciting in its own way. The girls and I liked Valravn the best; this is their newest coaster that just opened last month. Brad's favorite was called Dragster. This ride rockets you from the start to 120 mph in 3.8 seconds, takes you straight up to over 400 ft and then stops you straight down. Crazy!
After spending 12 hours in the park, we are exhausted, but we had a lot of fun. We get up early tomorrow morning and hit the road for Michigan. :)
