We didn't get the chance to really explore Clifty Falls SP until the next day. Imagine our surprise when we discovered a large canyon! I didn't know they had those in Indiana!
We did a lot of hiking, and saw a lot of waterfalls. That seems to be the theme of this trip, huh? There was also a really interesting tunnel on one of the hikes. Evidently it was carved out of the limestone by a railroad company many years ago in hopes of running a rail line through that area. Sadly, the RR company went bankrupt, and now the land is owned by the state of Indiana, so the tunnel is part of a nature trail. It is about 1/4 mile long, very damp, and completely dark in the center. We trudged through it with only the little flashlight from Brad's iPhone. There were many cries of, "Dad, I need the light to see where I'm going!" We emerged on the other side muddy, but feeling victorious
Onward and southward!
